Football Program

Since 2005 the Waterloo Sports Association youth football program has been known as the “Rampage”. New in 2012 was the conversion from the Rampage’s red and silver to orange and black colors and nickname of “Bulldogs”. This conversion is an effort to more closely align with the Waterloo High School Bulldogs and to build a community connection with Bulldog football from the youngest of ages all the way through high school.

The WSA youth football program(K through 6th grade) is entering its fourteenth season and plays in the Southwestern Illinois Youth Football Conference along with Columbia, Chester, Dupo, Nashville, Freeburg, Red Bud, Sparta, and Pinckneyville.

Since the 2014 season our 7th and 8th grade players participate in the new conference that matches with the Mississippi Valley conference with which the Waterloo High School program participates.  We have a 7th grade team and an 8th grade team.  The opponents for both of these teams will include Bethalto Civic Memorial, Jerseyville, Troy Triad, Highland, Mascoutah, Collinsville, Granite City and Edwardsville.  All levels below 7th grade will continue to participate in the Southwestern Illinois Youth Football Conference.

Depending on division size, the ideal regular season will consist of 8 regular season games and a one-to-two game post-season in all three of the divisions: Freshmen (6-7 year olds), Sophomore (8-9 year olds), JV (9-10 year olds) and then the 7th grade and 8th grade levels. Practices are 3 days a week typically Saturday morning, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm.

Practices are held at Konarcik Park and games are played at the old HS field near Rogers Elementary School. Practices begin the first Saturday in August. The regular season will begin the weekend after Labor Day, and games are played on Saturdays or Sundays, usually ending the first weekend in November. The post-season games will be played the weekend after the regular season ends.

The WSA Bulldogs Football program is split up into the below divisions:

1. Freshmen

2. Sophomores

3. Jr. Varsity

4. 7th Grade

5. 8th Grade

Pre-Season Football Camp

The purpose of the camp is to improve the skill level and enhance the interest of participants in all areas of football. All participants will receive a free Bulldog Football T-shirt.
